My Old FMP Proposal Draft

My Old FMP Proposal Draft

My original idea for my FMP was going to be stereotyping, but in greater depth. This wouldn't just include the petty stereotypes such as emo, chav, gangster and all that jazz. It would include the things that matter, such as racism, sexism, general stereotyping, etc. I wanted to touch up on a topic that would bring peoples attention to it, and make them listen. I wanted to open there eyes to the world around them. I wanted to do this purely because its a topic i feel most strong about. The only reason i would not like to follow through with this idea is because its really hard to put across.

My second idea is body art. I have always been interested in body art, but never looked into it properly. I did my GCSE art and design project on stereotyping and body art, and i thought i could do this again, but much better and in much more depth. When i did it in school, i only looked at stereotyping such as emo and chav, and the body art of face paint and makeup. I did this because i go bullied and called emo, just for what i used to wear, this then showed me that just because someone wore a bit of black makeup/ paint on their face, they would automatically be put into a category. This gave me inspiration in doing this, because i wanted to show that you are who you are, no matter what you wear or get categorised as. I then looked into this deeper, looking at cultural art and also face paint.
One task i did for this is bringing my face paint into school and doing up all of my friends faces in different things and animals.

Looking back on this project, i feel i could of done so much better in the work i created. I still have my final piece i made for it, which i am very proud with, and it got me an A (mock exam). But i feel that the amount of depth i went into it wasn't enough, and this is what id like to do for my project now.

For my body art/ stereotyping FMP, i will be looking into things such as scaring, tattooing (permanent body art), and why you do it, what effects it has, the stereotyping within it.
face paint, body painting, henna tattoos (non permanent body art), and again, why you do it, what effects it has, stereotyping within it, and also what it is used for and where you can do it.
piercings and makeup, where can you get piercings, what makeup can you buy, what are the effects of it all, why do you do it, and the stereotyping within it.

I will also be looking at different cultural art, purely because, we now, use all of these things for decoration purposes, where different cultures use it for ceremonies, special occasions and many more things.

My game/ interactive idea
I haven't really came up with a final game idea. But after having the group discussion and presentation, I am heading along the lines of doing a "Create your own tattoo" game, or "Guess the tattoo".
The only problem i have with this is that my project is about all different types of body art, not just tattooing, so i don't really want to focus on one.
Another idea I'm thinking of doing is along the lines of making a game where you choose what type of body art you want, and then have to do something within it, so if you choose tattooing, or scaring, you would have to draw round an image to make the tattoo in a certain amount of time.
These are some of the ideas i have had, but am not set on what i am doing. I think that after a fair amount of research in some arty games, i will then come up with a final idea.

My 3D idea
For my 3D, i am thinking of doing an ident for the website load up screen. Or for the movies i will be creating.
"movies i will be creating"?
The movies i will hopefully be creating for my research and actual FMP content, will be of people getting piercings, tattoos, henna and also makeup and face paint. This will then be displayed in my website.
Alot of my inspiration for the idents come from the MTV ident, located on YouTube.

This is one example. Although it is in motion graphics, i will try and create the same effect in 3D. I also might try and learn some motion graphics from tutorials on the net, and then try and create some within the 3D. I highly doubt i will have the time though.
But this is the effect i am aiming to create.

My website idea
I haven't really came up with a good idea for my website yet, but am thinking of doing it on just body art in general. So this will include things like tutorials, caring, gallery and just general information.
I don't want to include alot of writing in my website, because i personally think, that if a website is covered in info, then not alot of people will like it, due to the fact it is boring. I want to include alot of colours, and imagery in my website.
My aim for it, is to be bold, attractive and fun.
I want to get people to look at tattoos, scaring and piercings as an art rather then just a thing that ruins your body.

I think that i will end up sticking with this FMP idea for my FMP as it is something that interests me and i think that alot of people will find it interesting, if i hit it right.
I already have an idea for my stall for the FMP, and this is for it to look like a body art shop. When they go in, it will have detailed drawings all over the walls, giving it a tattoo/ scaring shop feeling, and also to show that the art drawn on people are not all ways tatty.
I also want to have a table outside, where i can do peoples face paint, and makeup if wanted.
I want to do this, because i think that it will be a great way to open peoples eyes of different types of art.
